We will take the time to make sure we address your needs. You will have an opportunity to even use some of the more popular assistive technology products to help you understand how technology can help you.
Assistive Technology Evaluations
Our staff at the Academy provides assistive technology evaluations. Many people don't realize that the assistive technology evaluation is crucial to a successful implementation of an assistive technology system. We will take the time to make sure you are exposed to high quality technology that can help you achieve your goals. Once we have exposed you to the technology, we can sit down to construct a practical and affordable assistive technology plan. At the end of the assessment, we will provide you with a thorough report for your use.
Job Site Accommodations
Holding onto a job can be difficult for those who are not disabled. It's even harder to hold onto that position when you have a disability. You may have more than enough knowledge for the position. However, your disability may hold you back from being productive due to job site accommodations. Our qualified staff at the Academy can come in and make your job site more accommodating. This service can help you become more productive and efficient and make you more competitive. Our goal at the Academy is to make it easier for you to succeed in education or in an occupation.
Educational Services
The Academy for Career Development is a licensed proprietary business school through the New York State Education Department, Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision. Our licensed instructors are more than capable of providing you with the education necessary for you to succeed in today's world. In fact, many of our instructors are disabled and they use assistive technology themselves. Our educational services fall into three categories. The categories include assistive technology training, public awareness workshops and seminars, and professional development workshops and seminars.
Our staff can provide a variety of courses on how to use different pieces of hardware and software that is considered assistive technology. These courses are for people who are blind, visually impaired, learning disabled, physically challenged and or for those who are suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome and other similar disabilities. Our courses are typically taught in our new accessible assistive technology lab. We can also conduct on site training when necessary. For those who are hard to reach, we can provide some courses via our distance learning system providing you have an Internet connection.
We feel at the Academy that it is important to inform the public about the issues involved when trying to help people with disabilities. Our staff periodically holds public workshops and seminars to keep the public informed and to build awareness. The same holds true for our professional development workshops and seminars. Both public and professional workshops and seminars are held at our accessible facility at 1349 South Avenue and throughout Rochester and surrounding areas.
