Using This Site
This website has been designed in accordance with the standards in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The Academy site and its style sheets also conform to the W3C/WAI Standard for XHTML 1.0 Transitional. The Academy web site meets all mandatory checkpoints for Priority 1, Priority 2, and Priority 3.
The accessibility features built into this website are designed to make navigation easier and to enhance the overall experience for all users. All main navigation and sidebar navigation elements have "Alt Text" and have been designed with "access keys." By holding your mouse over the element, the Alt Text will appear showing you the name of the key and the access key. The Alt text will explain what key combination to press to activate the access key. If you are using a screenreader, just press your down arrow and you will hear the name of the element and the access key.
For those who visit our site frequently and who use a screenreader, you can bypass all of the navigation and go directly to the content. The Academy logo at the top of the screen is a "skip navigation" link. To locate the link, open your "links list" dialog box and type the letter "A" until you hear your system say "Academy logo, used Alt plus K to skip navigation and then press your enter key. This should take you directly to the main content. The skip navigation link should be the first item in your links list dialog box. If you encounter any problems navigating this web site, please fill out our accessible contact form and select "Webmaster."
You may also navigate all of the pages in this site by using your "TAB Key." Pressing the tab key will move you from onscreen element to another. This also includes the links embedded within the text.
